[MediaWiki-l] Requesting modifications to the CSS standards

Huji Lee
I know this is not the ideal place to ask this, but I am hoping that
someone among the listserv users has some knowledge on how to make a
proposal to W3.org about modifications in the CSS standard.

Namely, the list-style-type property[1] in CSS has values like
"lower-alpha" and "hebrew" and "persian", and I would like to propose a new
value "persian-alpha" which would be the alphabetical ordering of lists in
Persian (commonly used in books for footnotes). But I don't know where to
start.

Please advise!
Huji

You can try reporting an issue at w3c's GitHub repository:
https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts

In the past w3c used Bugzilla. I reported some things there, and I remember
that at least one got resolved (
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=18490 ). That site appears
to be still accepting new bugs, but I think that the real activity moved to
GitHub.

Not the same thing (and also not well supported), but as an aside, have you
seen https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/@counter-style ?

Re: Requesting modifications to the CSS standards

Huji Lee
Thanks Amir, I will post an issue on their GitHub.

Brian, that was an excellent suggestion, and something I did not know! But
the issue is it only works in Mozilla browsers (so not Chrome, not Safari,
and not IE). Here is a demo: https://jsfiddle.net/a8obup7r/

But at least that is a starting point (and can help demonstrating the
desired output for the GitHub issue as well.
