Property value returned as empty string

Jesdisciple
This post was updated on .
First off, I did search for this but the results I saw were mostly irrelevant.  The closest match was Assignment & Display of value doesn't work which received no replies.

I was attempting the exact same thing (property inheritance), but now I just want to display the inherited property.  As this doesn't work, I think my problem is different.  Demonstration URL.  On that page, "January 1" should appear between the red exclamation marks.  (Yes, I know that date's completely false.)  When the page is viewed as normal, the property name and value appear in the factbox.

Note that I've tried this on different pages, purged pages, and resaved pages trying to find a solution.

Help, please!

Re: Property value returned as empty string

Yaron Koren
Hi,

A value like "January 1" is not valid for dates - there has to be year attached; that could be causing the issue.

Re: Property value returned as empty string

Jesdisciple
Thanks for the reply, Yaron.

I know MW won't take an incomplete date; the pieces are coming from different sources.  The calendar date (of type text for now) represents an annual event and the year is specific to the page (politician, in this case).  This system works fine; it's just this page's property that's acting up.

Re: Property value returned as empty string

Jesdisciple
Is there any better (or just other) place to ask this?

Thanks again,
Chris

Re: Property value returned as empty string

Yaron Koren
Okay, I see the real issue: your call should look like "{{#show:Governor of Texas|? Inauguration}}", not "{{#show:Governor of Texas|Inauguration}}".

And no, there's no better place to ask such a question.
